At the moment of his death Nostromo receives again the title of the "Capataz de Cargadores," the faithful leader of the People. Despite the trials of disillusionment, revolt, theft, and deception, which caused him to lose that title in a social sense (see ), Nostromo remains in the end the People, animated always by a higher fidelity to liberation and the better world.
