One guesses that the unstated finish is "placed such an emphasis on wealth," or something like it. Immediately Giselle goes on, quite innocently, to imply that Teresa has no further need of wealth, but plenty of need of "soul" (being a saint in heaven).

This level of the dialogue, the attempt to dissuade Nostromo from the need of wealth, is, of course, thematic only. On the surface, Giselle does not yet know that issues of wealth are even involved.
