The symbolism of the cargador's death lends greater meaning to the "orphaned
children," i.e., they are orphaned by the death of the moral society. It
is to Nostromo -- i.e., to the People -- that they look for "blessing,"
meaning assurance of their future. He gives it, signifying that it is the People
who now hold the dream of the improved future.
