This meeting between Linda and Ramirez -- explicitly framed in the "morning
quiet" of the commercial society -- represents the first suspicions of the
People's revolt. Linda represents lawful society, and Ramirez the loyal outer
face of the workers. Both are appalled (and threatened) by the discovery that
the true People are pursuing an agenda of their own.
