A great line that evokes the fragility of our subjective existences and the value
of our character. Reading this sentence one is prompted to look closely at the
word "personality," and see its literal meaning as "that which
makes up a person." The body of Nostromo remains, but the person of
Nostromo has "gone out of his existence" because this situation has
deprived him of what made it up -- his public reputation.
