This line is open to a Marxist interpretation, because of the nature of the bandit in question: Hernandez is the agent of forcible social justice, the 'Robin Hood' bandit who robs from the rich and protects the poor. If the Ribierist party stands for captialism, then the final transfer of its power to a socialist leader is inevitable under Marxist doctrine. Whether Nostromo itself argues a Marxist philosophy is another matter, indicated not only by the overt irony of this line but by the treatment of socialism in the remainder of Part Three.
