This chapter contains many socialist references to the injustice of Nostromo's
treatment, and the injustice of the importance placed on this lot of silver while
the poor go hungry. This line of the narrator's stresses the irony of Nostromo's
worth versus his "financial value," and indirectly emphasizes his lack
of a true name.
