As usual, Decoud analyzes Charles Gould's ideal correctly, but his analysis
of Mrs Gould seems somewhat simplistic. We have been told that she had vaster
ambitions of "rehabilitation" that go beyond Charles alone. Where
Decoud is correct is that Charles is the means to her ambitions, and
thus she is tied, through him, to the fate of Gould Concession.
