With light (i.e., human relations) come the tools of conflict, an especially apt
image given that Hirsch is an unwanted companion on this Separatist mission. The
image of Nostromo (representing the People) armed on his "left side"
adds a subtle political threat relating to the worker's revolt to come. Conrad
is also using the glimpse to lay in the revolver, with which Decoud will later
commit suicide.
