An echo here of the Viola's "blinded" house during the riot.
Both cases stand for the blindness of subjectivity, but here there is a willful
aspect to it, with the aristocracy "blinding" themselves to the plight
of the common plainsmen. There is also a correspondence between the "blind"
aristocrats and the "mute" peasantry above, a sort of symbiosis of disability.
